I suppose I should've chimed into the thread discussing this earlier, but I'm rather undecided and wanted to hear what others thought.

I think everyone agrees that a large influx of users/usage for just discussing trades outside of the scope of the Request forum is probably not a good thing. But is that a real threat? I don't know. How different would it be than how that forum runs now? I know I've addressed requests "offline" a couple of times, and in all cases, the requestor offered something back. I think this is probably common etiquette.

Blech, I guess what I'm rambling on about is that I still don't really know where I stand on this, so I'm gonna put it up for vote.

The best solution is a seperate web page with a good designer/programmer (these are like the mythical warrior/poets of lore). But in lieu of that, a sperate forum would be harless, or at least mostly harmless...

I'm MUUUCH more concerned with usenet bandwidth than I am with the relatively trivial requirements of organizing trades.

"I don't care".

I don't think it's an issue really worth worrying about, especially given how low the traffic in the "requests" forum here is. If it gets to the point where it's really a bother, then perhaps separate it onto its own website, or its own forum.

Voted "Fits in ..." The status quo seems to do the job, at least, as Mel said, at the current traffic levels. But nature takes its own course, as abmar seems to be at least partially evolving into a trading ng. And I doubt anything much can be done about it, or maybe even should be.

I'd say that's really up to your since you are taking the time out to all this. As long as it doesn't get out of hand, a seperate topic seems fine. I think it would be helpful. It would give people some other please to go besides ABMAR to do trades. I know I would use it. Now that I have a credit card, I'm going to start using Easynews to supplement my main ISP. Till then, I still have holes to fill.

As of this writing, 2 have voted that trading discussions don't belong here, while 11 have voted it's OK in form or another.

So, I've decided to give it a go. I chose the conservative route and created a separate subforum for that topic.

If anyone has really strong objections, make your case now or forever hold your peace Smile .
