Anyone else on attbi and apprehensive about the Comcast merger to come? I keep hearing whispers of "no more Usenet".

Any Comcast users out there care to share? Hmm, maybe not if they don't get Usenet...

Please, someone tell me my news isn't going away...

The end of the world must be nigh if I'm actually wishing to stay with AT&T.

I use Comcast in Northern Virginia. When Comcast used @home, we had Usenet. When @home went defunct, Comcast put up their own network. At first we did not have Usenet, but shortly Comcast made a deal with Giganews to provide 1GB of Usenet downloads/month. They also made a deal with Giganews for Comcast subscribers to subscribe to Giganews and receive some bonus bandwidth in addition to the published Giganews bandwidth/rates. I've been quite happy with the service.[/quote]

Oops, I meant "care to share their experiences".

Aiee! 1 GB! Did you opt to pay for the bonus bandwidth? How much was it (cost and more bandwidth)?

Giganews standard rates:

Giganews Broadband 6 GB/month US$11.95
Giganews Broadband 8 GB/month US$15.95
Giganews Broadband 12 GB/month US$22.95
Giganews Broadband 16 GB/month US$29.95
Giganews Broadband 25 GB/month US$44.95
Giganews Broadband 50 GB/month US$79.95

Comcast's deal adds about 5% bonus bandwidth at these same rates.

Service has been good.
