This is the first site I check when I have questions relating to the release dates, number of episodes, and genre of a particular title:

Anime News Tokyo http://kozakai.com/newsinde.htm is good for english information about current shows in Japan. Only thing it bites is when they mention competitions or fanclubs that are for Japan only Sad

Hitoshi Doi's site (http://www.tcp.com/doi/doi.html) has an insanely large searchable seiyuu database, and a wide array of information on individual seiyuu (performances, cd listings, everything), and a whole bunch of other stuff.

the site's not too well organized, but it's probably got more information than anywhere else. for simplicity, the seiyuu database itself is at http://www.tcp.com/doi/seiyuu/index.html

The page I follow for fansub releases is http://www.animenfo.com.

I'll have to try some of these others!

I have found this an invaluable source regarding anime TV series when working on my own, very different, database:

Is that from the same author? I thought he said he wouldn't be doing any more sites like that...

A few of my current bookmarks about new anime:
Moon Phase anime (Japanese) http://cyan.maid.to/Html/anime.shtml
Yuri-chan's anime diary (Japanese) http://yurichan.nerv.org/
English translated version of the Moon Phase anime page http://www.animedaisuki.net/
Reviews of new anime http://www.unm.edu/~jasc/newanime/newanime.html

---
EDIT
Forgot this one: http://www.baka-updates.com/
It has info on new releases, but hasn't been updated much since New Year. They say they're renewing it though.

Yes.

After he shut down the original A-D, he started up a mailing list called ani-mag, which was a serial edition of what A-D use to be. It was at ani-mag (more specifically, he shut down ani-mag after starting up AnimeCaravan) where I found out about AnimeCaravan.

A friend just passed on this link to me:
http://www.wtf-anime.com/

Although they look pretty new, they have a few solid reviews on the newest anime out that cover *gasp* FANSUB COMPARISONS! They seem to follow a systematic formula with decent depth and breadth coverage ranging from translation and timing to editing and encoding. I like their reviews so far, but I'm not the most critical of anime watchers. I'm posting their link here so hopefully it'll get more attention from the people who care about this kind of stuff--ie newsgroup downloaders--and hopefully, they'll grow! ^_~

If anyone else knows of other/better review sites doing similar things, by all means, please share! =)

(xo-sama, please move this post to the appropriate forum if my post here is inappropriate. arigatou, ne!)
(edited to be a bit more eye-catching ^^ )

This is the site/idea I've been waiting for! I hope they can keep up with as much of the releases as possible - I'm sure it's a pretty time consuming and tedious task to watch and re-watch the same eps for review.

Thanks for the link, ensui.

http://animesuki.com is a comprehensive list of anime torrents (for download via BitTorrent). http://a.scarywater.net actually hosts a lot of torrents.
