My download speed more than doubled today from ~122KB/s to ~250KB/s and my upload speed increased from 65KB/s to 80KB/s.

I just noticed a little while ago when I started downloading off Bit Torrent. When I checked it a few minutes later to see how it was doing I was pulling between 240-256KB/s.

I'm now seeding it at 80KB/s.

I posted a quick test to ab.test and my average upload speed was 79KB/s which spiked to 86KB/s every few seconds.

Yeehaw!

Damn! That's mighty nice of them (especially if they're not charging more). I'd be a bit worried that someone goofed up and upgraded your account. Time to double check your billing. Wink

Sprint recently (within the last few of weeks) finally got dsl to me. Needless to say I'm now a much happier camper. Smile I started with their mid range package which is about 188KB down/32KB up and I've been seeing every bit of that bandwidth without a hitch so far. Their highest home package is 384KB down/48KB up but that's $20-$30 more/month (I might upgrade to that later on). I really wish they offered better upstream for home users.

On the down side however is that earthlink's news servers are severely cap'd. Mad They only allow 1.5GB/month and they include headers in that amount. Crying or Very sad Easynews is still my savior I guess (though it ain't free).

Nothing is ever perfect I guess...

I checked their site and this is what their regular High Speed service is now
http://www.bell.ca/shop/application/commercewf?origin=noorigin.jsp&event=link(goto)&content=/jsp/content/personal/catalog/internet_access/highspeed/index.jsp&contentpage=home

3Mbps down and 0.8Mbps up.

There's no change in price.

Their Ultra High Speed service is now 4Mbps(up from 3) down and 0.8Mbps up and $20 cheaper than it used to be. It's now $59.95/month.

Shocked Damn! That's basically about what I'm paying for a little over 1/3 the bandwidth.

Grrrr... Looks like the great white north is beating the crud out of the sunny humid south for net service. Wink
