|

Yeah, I sound like a stupid newbie here, but recently I have problems with this one...
Until now I used CDRwin to burn the bin/cue images. You find them hardly in these groups, so I used the speed capped demo only. But since about two months CDRwin does not longer find my recorder.
I did some experiments and found out, that there is a timebomb in the program. When I set the system date back some months and do a reinstall of windows and CDRwin, it works again. This seems to affect CDRwin 3.x and 4.x in general. Even a "serial" didn't help. I tried the new CDRwin - it works, but it doesn't understand bin/cue files any longer...
So, how do you burn (or build) the bin/cue images nowadays?
Is there a way to keep CDRwin working besides backdating your system?
Or do you use other burning progs for this?
I'm using Nero mostly, but it has problems with many bin/cue files.
Yeah, I know that I can extract the tracks manually with a program like ISObuster. But sometimes you can't keep the original disc this way.
(Remember those Mononoke Hime SVCDs with switchable audio tracks / subtitles...)

I've always used CDRWin, but I've been a registered user....
The version 4 beta does the Bin/Cue the same as ever -- the CDRWin author invented the format so I wouldn't expect to see it go -- so I'm not sure what you're (not) seeing.

I've heard some interesting rumors about CDRWin, such as one that claimed that serializing with a known warez serial would result in it silently creating misburns.
If you're really desperate, you might looking to cdrdao. I use in under Linux for burning all my vcd/svcds, including the ones I create via vcdimager-generated bin/cues. Works like a charm.
They have Windows binaries. I haven't tried it myself but I imagine they are command-line based, but nothing too difficult about:
cdrdao write --speed 24 --device 0,0,0 my.cue

Huh?... AAARRGH!
The cybersquatters got me...
I tried coldenhawk.de instead of goldenwawk.com. This took me to some f***ers who claimed another prog to be CDRwin 5.x.
I'll try the 4.0a - Forget my question...
Sigh... Now I really looked like a stupid newbie...

I'm a registered Nero user, but 5.5.7.2 never ate a bin/cue correctly.
Last try with the ROD EP2 SVCD - got an error in cue file line 3.
Haven't tried the 5.5.8.0 yet, but Nero is not the best tool for bin/cues...

T.Rieper | Strange... I've been using Nero 5.5.64 for a while now, and I've been able to successfully burn all the bin/cue images I've run into. I haven't had any bin/cue problems I haven't been able to resolve trivially. For instance, if there's a problem with a line in the cue file, it's usually an absolute path filename setting. I open up the cue file in notepad and chop off the "D:\path-to-image\" part or whatever to make it a relative path... but that's usually in line 1, methinks... |

As ensui mentioned, the most common reason a cue doesn't work is the use of an absolute path, which you can just remove. But if the cue still doesn't work, just load up the bin file in Nero. You'll have to manually feed it the information about the bin but you can get those by just looking at the cue file, I believe. |

I have to second the nomination for Fireburner, it's a very small and straightforward program that while it may not have all the bells and whistles of Nero or CDRWin, it works and it's simple |

This may not be news to you guys, but the freeware VideoLan Client can play the unaltered .bin part of a .cue/.bin set. Often after downloading a VCD or SVCD, I'll launch VLC and open the .bin and watch a few minutes to see if it's worth burning to CD-R.
No muss, no fuss.

P.S. I also use cdrdao for burning (S)VCDs. |

there's a program called "daemon" for windows (sorry for those linuxers). it lets you create virtual cd-rom with bin/cue images. once you load them from daemon, it will appear as your cd-rom drives, allowing you to create maximum of 4 drives at the same time. after loading it, you may just use any burner for cd-to-cd copy, or just use the image as it is, if it's locked cd image.
I forgot the url from where you can download it, but if anyone interested, I'll find and post it again.
p.s.) forgot to add, that this is GPLed. |
