Having difficulty d/ling files with JP characters in subject. Currently using Xnews 5.04.25. / Win98 There must be a newsreader which by-passes this somehow? Suggestions/advice would be much appreciated.

It's not the newsreader who has problems with those files, but rather the Win98 filesystem. WinNT/Win2K/WinXP won't have problems with it.

I don't use Xnews, so I don't know how it works, but there should be a way to 'Save as' the files you're going to decode. It will also probably try to download the files using temp filenames somewhere, so maybe you could look somewhere in Xnews' temp folder. Maybe someone who uses it might have more detailed info available.

Doesn't look like Xnews has such an option. What do you use?
