I recently finished watching.

It's the most charming and heart warming anime I've ever watched and it softens my usual cynical view of the world. Thank you to NLA, Ishin, a-f, e-f, and aone for one of the best fansub jobs I've seen - beautiful work for a beautiful series.

That's all I wanted to say.

Oh, and I nearly died laughing whenever Osaka would open her mouth.

I think Chiyo-chan being scared to death of her teacher driving was the best parts. Very Happy

My favorite bit is during the cultural festival (I think the first one), when Osaka is standing next to some stuffed animals she and her classmates had made, explaning them to a visitor.

The one of "Hanshin"...

I can't stop smiling. Very Happy

I too loved this series. Too sweet/charming/silly/enchanting...

Osaka was a riot! Chasing 'dust' (floaters) in her eyes. Laughing

Sakaki and her obsession/desire for/love of cats. They couldn't have created a character better designed to tug the sentimental heart strings. Funny, Bittersweet, endearing...

I was both satisfied and quite sad when I got to the end of it. It left me aching for more which I'd guess is another sign of how much I enjoyed it.

I'd agree the fansubs by both groups were excellent too. Among the best.

I have to agree. Azumanga is one of the all-time best shows.

I don't really have even a small number of favorite parts. The whole thing is my favorite.

I just hope the DVD subs are as good as the fansubs.

"DVD subs?" Where did you get that it was licensed? Confused

As much as I would like to get my hands on some Azu R1, I don't think it's coming over here yet -- I'm assuming you're thinking it's licensed based on this unconfirmed rumor at ANN that was later denied by David Williams of ADV.. unfortunately, it looks like we're in for more of a wait. ;( I'd be interested to see how a series like Azu goes over in the states, although I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a big, mainstream success, even if it *is* the best show about nothing I've ever seen.

I mentioned in another thread that I found the complete 3-DVD set for sale from a California distributor real cheap. They were subtitled. I decided not to buy those ones because they're no doubt crappy HK subs.

What I meant was, when Azumanga is officially licenced and released with professional subs, as it MUST BE SOON BECAUSE IF ANY SERIES NEEDS TO BE LICENSED AND RELEASED IN A HURRY IT'S THIS ONE Twisted Evil , I hope the subs are good.

Azumanga is pretty much my favorite series... Manga was funny, but it adds so much to see them animated and voiced. Osaka rocks ^^. I'm really hoping someone picks this up for R1...

Don't tell me you haven't done that. I used to do it a lot in boring classes. But then, I'm a little unusual too. Smile

Well of course I have!

Osaka just does it with more style than I ever could so I appreciate her out of both nostalgia for my floater chasing days and jealousy of her technique. Very Happy

Not only was the series one of the best that I've ever seen, but the music was quite impressive. Not impressive as in "wow-- that's an amazing orchestra" type, but rather, it was obvious that whoever wrote the music put a lot of thought into it, and the music was carefully played at just the right moments.

<hums a tune from AD>

Damn I miss that show...

(incidentally, I managed to hook one of my friends on anime with AD-- previously he'd seen a couple of early-80s anime, but "wasn't into it"... hehe, he watched AD in about 4 days!)

Aye.

I've been listening to the OSTs a lot and really dig the music on its own. It's good coding music for me.
