... at least on my
computer, lol

A lot of this (or most) may be familiar territory; if so ignore....

First a bit about the environment I use for cleaning up downloads: my
starting point is an Explorer Search window with the *Look in:* set to
the directories where I might have stuck any anime stuff -- in my case
the string is:
"e:\_anime;f:\_anime;d:\_anime;c:\temp;i:\_anime;j:\_anime". Why not
just do the default of all the drives? It slows everything down too
much, depending on how much HD space you have. If I'm going to
rejoin, say, 'Patlabor.TV.36.(Dual.Audio).XVID.[AM].ogm', I'll just
put "pat lab 36" in the *All or part of the file name:* box and I'll
see everything concerning that ep I might have stuck somewhere (of
course I could have instead just opened the dir where the downloaded
parts are stored, but using a Search window is more likely to show any
anomalies that you might have -- multiple copies, etc.-- and, of
course filter out all the other garbage that might be there). Besides
the Search window, I'll also have an open window into the directory
where I store the resultant joined episodes.

A long time ago I noticed that when RAR's were unrared into a
directory on a separate physical HD the process went much faster then
when they were put into the same drive on which the RAR's themselves
resided (a product of multiple caches and less disc thrashing on the
first drive). A problem I've had with QuickPar rejoins is that there
seemed no way of redirecting the output to accomplish this same
(possible) speed-up. Jangle, of the ng's, has subsequently told me of
a method of getting this redirection done that apparently has floated
around the QP ng for awhile.

* Using that Patlabor 36 as an example, you drag (*Moving* with the
Shift key depressed is probably best) one of the PAR2 files into the
destination dir for the episode's AVI -- again, the key point I'm
adding here is that, to get the speed-up, this destination directory
should be in a partition on a separate _physical_ drive from where the
parts reside. If you're using the Search window method described
above, the moved PAR2 is still easily found, just in case your
destination folder has hundreds of files sitting in it, as mine
does... ;p

* Double click this moved PAR2 file (say Patlabor.TV.36...ogm.PAR2) to
start QP; of course it finds nothing to work with except the one PAR2,
so select all your *.01...*.00# files and any other PAR2 files you
want, and drag them onto the QP screen (you don't need to go through
the *Add" menu).

* Do the Rejoin; with this Patlabor file, it was finished in 17sec;
redoing it, as a test, the *normal* way, with the file being put in
with the parts and PAR2's took 40 sec.

(...also put in abmad...)
