Newbie Advice Guidelines

23. Limit the length of the Subject Line of your binary post

Limit the length of the Subject Line of your binary post -- put in only what is necessary to enable downloaders to make a clear call as to whether or not they want to grab it (title; ep #; ova/tv/movie; sub/dub; codec; subber if applicable).

What is unnecessary? Some examples:

  • your nick - everyone's newsreader already lists it.
  • requests - covered in an earlier *nag* that is sure to be repeated.
  • any duplicate info
  • advertisements for your irc channel.
  • life stories.
  • ......and I'm sure you can think of 'lots more....
