I'd like to be able to fserv from bitchx (or even use bitchx semi confidently) and I'm wondering if any of you anime irc people have any unix experience you could share?
I got my hands on a fair size pipe and 40G of drive space, so I'd like to set up a mostly-permanent fserv but have NOOOO idea how to even start. All the guides I've found that are remotely good are for mIrc.
Thanks!

I serve with Linux, but I don't use BitchX (I couldn't find a good fserve script for it). But I know of three good alternatives.
http://www.xchat.org/ with http://jiminy.dyndns.org/obsidian/index.html
This is what I use. You have to be in X, but it works well, though there are some bugs in the script.

I think this is just an early version of the fserve script above, but it works for me, and irssi is good (and command line).

This is the premiere XDCC script. It's got remote administration, bandwidth capping, and some other nice stuff.
Hope some of that helps. |
